The Cows Came Home

The Cows Came Home Yes, the party is over, but it was GREAT!  I entered this painting in the Robert Burridge Studio Virtual show, “Table Setting” and was awarded BEST IN SHOW!  Wait, it gets better!  A couple from Pennsylvania purchased the painting after they saw it on the San Diego Museum of Art Artist Guild Zoom meeting!  Doesn’t get much better than that!   Quote for the week: Forget inspiration. New Painting for a New Show “At Midnight”!

San Diego Museum of Art Artists Guild Show

THE SAN DIEGO MUSEUM OF ART ARTISTS GUILD will be displaying juried membership artwork at the Lyceum Theatre in conjunction with Hershey Felder’s “Paris, A Love Story”.  My combined media artwork, “Paris Circles” has been accepted into the show! Depending upon the current situation, the artwork will be available for viewing May 1 – June 8, 2020.  Artwork reception is scheduled to be held May 8, 6:30 – 9:30 PM.  This information will be updated as changes may occur. San Marcos Community Center Art Show, March 2-30 April, 2020

  The Juried Art & Photography Show at the San Marcos Community Center has accepted two paintings!  Artists reception will be Thursday, March 5 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.  A light dinner and refreshments will be provided by Chick-fil-A.  Art will be available for viewing Monday – Friday, March 2 through April 30 from 8 am to 7 pm.

Life Drawing Sketch Class

I found a life drawing sketch group in San Diego on Sunday nights from 7-9 PM.  No instructions.  It is at the San Diego Art Loft on Tripp Street.  Only costs $12.00 and can be accessed through the “Meetup” website under “Arts” category.  Check it out!  Great fun! Also, there is a Quick Sketch art class in Vista that has an instructor.  It includes a series of 1 – 5 minute sketch times with a 20 min thrown in.  It meets on Tuesday nights, 6:25 – 9:25 PM.   There is a requested $15.00 donation for the model. San Luis Obispo Show

I had a show in SLO in November at the 2 Blondes Boutique titled, “Figuratively Speaking…..”. It was for “Art After Dark” event, which is held on the first Friday evening of each month. Galleries, restaurants, salons, and boutiques spotlight an artist for a month. I had a great time meeting the guests at the reception, 1 November.

I’m going to Boca de Tomatlan, Mexico!

I have been to many of Robert Burridge workshops at his studio in Arroyo Grande and in my home town, San Diego. This time the workshop/vacation will be in Boca de Tomatlan, Mexico through Casa de los Artistas. A whole week of painting, 19-26 January 2019, in a small fishing village 14 miles south of Puerto Vallarta! I am so excited!

Anyone Interested?

Interesting.   Didn’t think I’d like to blog.  Is anyone really interested in what is going on in my life?  I know we are in such a communication frenzy: Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, etc.  I’m of the “old school” (and old!) and prefer to live a quiet and private life like a lot of artists. I have been an artist my whole life (well up to now, at least) but now that I have retired I am devoting the rest of my remaining years to create as much art as I can, enter as many juried shows possible, and enjoy every second. “50 to Watch”

It has been an exciting March!  Last month I was chosen to participate in the Art On 30th gallery event, “50 to Watch”.  Only 50 artists were chosen from a wide range of artistic abilities that included painting, sculpture, fiber, & photography. Also, a full-color booklet was published containing chosen artwork of each artist and sent to 1500 galleries nationwide!  What an honor!
