Life Drawing Sketch Class

Sketch from the Art Loft

I found a life drawing sketch group in San Diego on Sunday nights from 7-9 PM.  No instructions.  It is at the San Diego Art Loft on Tripp Street.  Only costs $12.00 and can be accessed through the “Meetup” website under “Arts” category.  Check it out!  Great fun!

Also, there is a Quick Sketch art class in Vista that has an instructor.  It includes a series of 1 – 5 minute sketch times with a 20 min thrown in.  It meets on Tuesday nights, 6:25 – 9:25 PM.   There is a requested $15.00 donation for the model. You can find it in “Meetup” as well.

San Luis Obispo Show

I had a show in SLO in November at the 2 Blondes Boutique titled, “Figuratively Speaking…..”. It was for “Art After Dark” event, which is held on the first Friday evening of each month. Galleries, restaurants, salons, and boutiques spotlight an artist for a month. I had a great time meeting the guests at the reception, 1 November.

I’m going to Boca de Tomatlan, Mexico!
Boca de Tomatlan, Mexico

I have been to many of Robert Burridge workshops at his studio in Arroyo Grande and in my home town, San Diego. This time the workshop/vacation will be in Boca de Tomatlan, Mexico through Casa de los Artistas. A whole week of painting, 19-26 January 2019, in a small fishing village 14 miles south of Puerto Vallarta! I am so excited!

Anyone Interested?

Interesting.   Didn’t think I’d like to blog.  Is anyone really interested in what is going on in my life?  I know we are in such a communication frenzy: Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, etc.  I’m of the “old school” (and old!) and prefer to live a quiet and private life like a lot of artists.

I have been an artist my whole life (well up to now, at least) but now that I have retired I am devoting the rest of my remaining years to create as much art as I can, enter as many juried shows possible, and enjoy every second.

I have so many projects in my head and heart that I may never complete but will give it a good try.  Every day is a blessing.

“50 to Watch”

It has been an exciting March!  Last month I was chosen to participate in the Art On 30th gallery event, “50 to Watch”.  Only 50 artists were chosen from a wide range of artistic abilities that included painting, sculpture, fiber, & photography.

Also, a full-color booklet was published containing chosen artwork of each artist and sent to 1500 galleries nationwide!  What an honor!

Recycled Art & Fashion Show in Temecula

The Recycled Art & Fashion  Show in Temecula at the Monte de Oro Winery was a great success!  Many wonderful creations were presented including my First Place Award winner, “Allons-y” from their previous event in 2016 and my new creation, “Order’s Up!”.  “Allons-y” was made with outdated atlas pages and worn by Megan Halsey.  “Order’s Up!” was constructed of recycled coffee filters, worn by Taylor Miller.

The Recycled Art & Fashion Show presents original, eco-friendly art and fashion from arts professionals and college and high school students within the community. It promotes innovative re-purposing of consumer waste and raises environmental awareness with an exciting runway event and visual art display. Proceeds support Mt. San Jacinto College student scholarships and student/community events.
